Australian Tea Masters to hold classes at this year’s Tea & Coffee World Cup

Australian Tea Masters, the leading organisation for tea training and tea education in Australia with offices in Singapore, will be holding classes at this year’s Tea & Coffee World Cup.

Australian Tea Master trainers include Sharyn Johnston, the founder of Australian Tea Masters; Phua Angela, Director Australian Tea Masters Singapore; and Nathan Johnston, Founder of Cartel Roasters, Australia.

Sharyn founded the Australian Tea Masters in 2011. She has worked with some of the world’s leading tea experts to develop the training material used in the classes. Sharyn has also developed the government accredited ‘Course in Tea Sommelier’, which is the first set of tea standards found within Australia. She is regularly asked to be a guest judge at tea competitions all over the world, and is a highly competent professional tea taster. She is a member of the Chinese Tea Experts Committee and was given a special award from the Cultural foundation in Korea for her contribution to the development and promotion of Korean Tea culture. With a social media network of over 50,000 followers and a strong tea-focused network around the globe, she is a well-respected member of the global tea community.

Phua Angela is an Australian Tea Masters graduate based in Singapore and is now a director of Australian Tea Masters Singapore. She completed Certified Tea Mastery as well as Certified Tea Blending courses in Australia. Angela has a vast experience in hosting tea appreciation workshops to members of the public as well as corporate clients. Angela is also the brand-owner of A.muse Projects – one of the earliest tea brands to emerge on the small-batch independent scene in Singapore in 2013.

Nathan Johnston of Cartel Roasters fame is a well-known coffee guru but he also has a passion for speciality tea and is an experienced tea judge and tea cupper. Nathan has experienced many amazing tea plantations on his coffee journeys and believes the two have an awesome synergy. Nathan has cupped with some of the world’s leading tea experts and will share the secrets of how to evaluate the leaf.

On their participation in the show, Sharyn Johnston says – “Australia Tea Masters is so proud to be selected as the tea educators at Tea and Coffee World Cup Singapore. It is so exciting that the organisers have recognised the movement and new trends that are occurring in the tea industry. Tea is the second most consumed beverage in the world after water and speciality tea in particular is now finally receiving the accolades it deserves. From leaf to cup and bean to cup tea and coffee need to be both treated with equal respect and it is so exciting that Tea and Coffee World Cup have recognised this. We are honoured to be partnering with Tea and Coffee World Cup Singapore for tea training.”

The class timetable will be released soon and will be available to book in, with limited availability. For more information on the Australian Tea Masters please visit – http://australianteamasters.com.au/
